'Grant Writing' and 'Governing Committees for Success' Workshops

Natalie Bramble presenting at the Workshop in FinleyIn an attempt to enhance the skills, knowledge and know-how of individuals, community groups, businesses and local government representatives within our region, Central Murray ACC organised and conducted ten workshops throughout the region. Held over four days in mid-June, the workshops focused on either 'Grant Writing' or 'Governing Committees for Success' depending on demand within the area.

The Grant Writing workshops were directed at those looking for grants for their group or organisation. Participants were encouraged to come along and learn how to develop a concise organisation template that could be tailored to suit the requirements of different funding bodies. They were also guided through the processes and procedures that should be used when developing a concept into a project, constructing a funding proposal and application and the steps to take during the submission process.

The Grant Writing Workshop in RochesterThe seven workshops held in Mathoura, Deniliquin, Finley, Rochester, Stanhope, Kyabram and Balranald each had great responses. Collectively, there were 144 participants at our Grant Writing workshops and feedback received was very positive. The majority of participants indicated that they would be able to apply the skills and knowledge learnt at the workshops immediately or in the near future.

The Governing Committees for Success workshops were held in Cohuna, Swan Hill and Barham. These workshops were aimed at individuals who are involved with a board or committee of management or would like to develop a committee for their organisation in the future. The workshop taught participants modern governance practices including those that relate to financial and legal obligations, risk management practices, recruitment and succession fundamentals and troubleshooting. Participants were also taught how to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of their boards and how to manage change. The workshops attracted 49 participants, who found the information presented of great value.

Natalie Bramble presenting at a WorkshopOverall, the ten workshops attracted just under 200 people from many different not-for-profit groups and organisations, clubs, private enterprise businesses and government representatives. Feedback received indicated that such workshops were well overdue within the communities visited and made it clear that there is still a high demand for more workshops in the future.
