On Friday 22nd February, Mr. Graeme Gledhill, Chairman of Central Murray ACC, officially opened the Moulamein Aquatic Centre on behalf of the Australian Government. The new Centre will form a major part of the aquatic precinct development and become a popular attraction within the Moulamein township and surrounding district.
Fronting the huge new Lake, complementing the existing swimming pool and with man-made ‘Mount Moulamein’ as a backdrop, the building is home to visitor facilities such as toilets, change rooms and a kiosk. It is bound to become a hive of activity, especially when the Lake is filled with water.
Funding for this project was obtained from the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government as well as NSW Department of Tourism, Sport and Recreation, the Wakool Shire Council, Moulamein 200 Club, Moulamein Lake Committee, Country Energy and the Moulamein RSL.
