Blighty Sporting and Community Centre Upgrade

Community Centre Upgrade WorksThe project involves the refurbishment of the Blighty Hall to include new kitchen, cool room, storage area, meeting room, toilet facilitites and baby change area. Works will ensure that the facility complies with Occupational Health and Safety standards and meets the needs of the community. Funding will also assist with the installation of a secure children’s playground and works to divert traffic from pedestrian areas for the safety of all visitors.
Amount approved: $160,330

Community Safety Display Vehicle

Community Safety Display VehicleRegional Partnerhships funding was obtained to enable the Cohuna Neighbourhood Watch and Victoria Police to fit-out a trailer designed specifically to attract public attention. The trailer would raise and promote awareness of safety issues within the community, with a view to preventing the emotional, physical and financial burden of trauma to the community. The trailer will allow for information to be imparted to communities, schools, sporting groups, rural shows, markets and farm field days throughout Swan Hill Rural City and Gannawarra Shires.

Jerilderie Library and Community Centre

Regional Partnerships funding was granted to the Jerilderie Shire Council to assist with the redevelopment and fit-out of a new Library and Community Centre in Jerilderie. The project will enable the library to broaden their collection, provide a wider range of facilities and services and offer a venue for seminars, workshops and training in a purpose built facility. The new centralised location will also allow for improved access and usage by all community members.
Amount Approved: $447,460

Jerilderie Medical Centre Renovation

The Jerilderie Shire Council received Regional Partnerships funding to contribute to the cost of extending and refurbishing the existing Jerilderie Medical Centre. The project was critical to ensuring that the current medical services in the district are maintained whilst also providing facilites that would help attract doctors and additional health services to Jerilderie into the future.

Lalbert Community Complex Redevelopment

Lalbert Community ComplexThe Gannawarra Shire Council received funding on behalf of the Lalbert Progress Association to complete substantial capital works to the existing Community Complex in Lalbert. The works would ensure that the facility not only meets the broader needs of the community, but also complies with Occupational Health and Safety standards. The redeveloped facility would provide the community of Lalbert with a functional multi-purpose community hub which could also be used to host a range of events and forster the development of partnerships between community service providers, groups and individuals.

Lockington Civic Renewal

Fuel Station at the Lockington Business CentreThe Lockington Community Care Committee received funding to upgrade the facilities and provide appropriate infrastructure in the heart of Lockington. It was foreseen that the project would increase the number and quality of events held in the town, increase the number of visitors and residents to the district and help retain and also attract additional services to the district. Funding was obtained to upgrade the Apex park to provide quality overnight stopover facilities, upgrade the community owned business centre, and install a new 55,000 litre fuel tank which would enable the community to purchase fuel at wholesale rates.

Mathoura Multi-Purpose Facility

Mathoura Information CentreRegional Partnerships funding was provided to assist with the construction and fit-out of a multi-purpose community hub in Mathoura. The Centre will be available for use of Mathoura and district residents for meetings, training, seminars, special events, exhibitions, community events, school group tours and visitor education.
Amount approved: $264,300

Tongala Community Health Centre

The construction and fit-out of a multi-purpose Community Health Centre in Tongala has been long awaited by the local community. The new facility will incorporate a range of facilities for allied health services and enable a locally coordinated and managed approach to the delivery of community health care services in the district.
Amount approved: $322,520 (Project did not proceed)

Wanganella Community Facility Revitalisation

Regional Partnerships funding was received to contribute to the cost of constructing a new community facility at Wanganella. The new facility would replace the existing 90 year old building which no longer met Occupational Health and Safety, food handling, child care or general public standards. It was foreseen that the project would increase community participation in social and industry events in a safe location with amenities suitable for all users.
Amount approved: $214,830

Yaccamunda Olive Oil Processing Facility

Yaccamunda Pastoral has approximately 30,000 olive trees which will reach full production in 2007. Due to the small processing window available and the fact that alternative processing options are limited, Yaccamunda was approved funding to plan and build a premium virgin olive oil processing facility. The new plant will increase the capacity of the organisation significantly, create employment opportunities within the district, increase business attraction and cash flow within the region and add to the tourism appeal of the town through factory tours and cellar door sales.
